Germs and bacteria are always present around us in various forms, some of which can be harmful and can cause a bad affect on the immunity system-giving rise to infections, and some of the bacteria can be harmless and sometimes good for the human body. Germs are present around us in innumerable numbers in the soil, water, air and atmosphere. The minute organisms called microbes settle on the surfaces in the accumulated dust particles and come into contact with the human body through touch.
The germs are usually so minute that they are rarely visible to the naked eye. They can be only seen through a microscope in the medical laboratories. The human body tries its maximum extent to ward off the evil effects of such germs by producing antibodies in the form of white blood corpuscles, that can successfully fight the harm causing viruses, and this fight reveals itself in the form of fever, cough and sneezing. When the immune system tends to weaken the infection turns into disease characterized by prolonged illness. As the virus has the capacity to combine and modify itself, the nature of the illness may also differ and may need different treatment.
Duration Of The Existence Of The Germs: The harm causing germs are found to exist from a period of a few minutes to around 48 hours. The germs are found to exist more predominantly and consistently on nonporous surfaces than on porous surfaces i.e.; they remain on the doorknobs, computer keypads and wooden and plastic surfaces than on cloth and in liquids.
Prevention Is Better Than Cure: Any illness is harmful to the human body and it’s immune system. Recurring attacks of cold and flu can weaken the respiratory system and lead to pneumonia and such other life threatening diseases, which in the long run become incurable. Any ailment should be prevented from attacking the body, as searching for a cure and acting upon it is always cumbersome and a long drawn out process, where, in the meanwhile any harm can occur. The damage once done to the immune system and the vital organs of the body will require a considerable time for cure.
